Hope House

The Calico Capers Christmas Committee chose Hope House, Baraboo as this year’s recipient of their annual ‘Joy of Sharing’ the guild participates in each year with their members.  Among needs of the Hope House were pillowcases & new pillows.  Presentation to Hope House by the CCQG Christmas Committee. The CCQG Outreach Committee dedicated their October and November Workdays to making pillowcases for Hope House, Baraboo.  An Action Team application for this project was approved by Thrivent Financial for "see money" to help purchase for the pillowcases.  The gift card received allowed the guild to purchase fabric for about thirty-two pillowcases.

An application was made at the Portage WalMart for a donation of pillows and a donated gift card of $50 helped toward the purchase of pillows.

At the end of the November Outreach workday the guild members had completed 148 beautiful pillowcases.  The pillowcases were then affixed with stickers from Thrivent Finanacial that read, "Made with Love" or "From Our Hearts to Your Hands".

The night of December 5 at the CCQG Winter Wonderland Christmas Gathering,  more pillowcases and pillows were shared with the final total donated was 230 homemade pillowcases and over 90 pillows.

These donations were also recorded with the 2016 One Million Pillowcase Challenge sponsored annually be All People Qyilt this year with the help of Moda, Martingale, Paintbrush, Handi Quilter, Timeless Treasures, Northcott, RK Fabrics, Baby Lock, Coats and Free Spirit.

With their donation tallies reported on Tuesday, December 6, The Calico Capers Quilt Guild helped raise the challenge figure to 703,071 toward the one million mark for the end of the year.
